Barcelona vs Sevilla Preview

Barcelona vs Sevilla Preview

Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola could welcome back Xavi and Gabi Milito for the Saturday's match against Sevilla.
Xavi has been struggling all season with an Achilles injury, while Milito is available again after recovering from a thigh problem.
Guardiola rested a host of first-team players in Barca's 2-0 Copa del Rey win at Second Division B side Ceuta earlier this week and may rotate again ahead of Tuesday's Champions League match away to FC Copenhagen.
Barca have lost just six times to Sevilla at the Nou Camp, having drawn 10 and won 50 of the 66 meetings between the two sides at the famous old stadium.
Guardiola's side have won just two of four games at home in the league this season, but lie in third place after eight games, just a point behind fierce rivals Real Madrid after eight games.
Sevilla - in sixth place - have looked a better side since the arrival of Gregorio Manzano as coach earlier this season, but the Andalusian club's revival will face its biggest test yet tomorrow.
Nevertheless, goalkeeper Javi Varas, who will replace the injured Andres Palop at the Nou Camp, believes his side can produce an upset in Catalonia.
"We are Sevilla - we're a big club and we can surprise Barcelona," he said.
Manzano's side thrashed Second Division B side Real Union 4-0 away from home in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday.
Jesus Navas and Federico Fazio missed that match through injury, but are back in training and could feature on Saturday.

Real Sociedad v Deportivo Preview

Real Sociedad v Deportivo Preview

Deportivo La Coruna goalkeeper Dani Aranzubia hopes Monday's trip to struggling Real Sociedad can spark a revival.
Depor started the weekend in 19th place in the standings and one of only two clubs yet to pick up a victory this season, the other being bottom side Real Zaragoza.
Miguel Angel Lotina`s side have also had major problems in front of net, and their tally of three goals scored - two of which came from the penalty spot in the same game - is the worst in the division.
The Galician outfit at least managed to end a three-match losing streak with a goalless draw against Osasuna last time out, although their opponents had played with a man less from the 35th minute.
Nevertheless, Aranzubia hopes his side can build on that result against promoted Sociedad tomorrow evening.
"Sooner or later this win will arrive and hopefully it will be at Anoeta. The three points would give us the impetus that we need," said the veteran goalkeeper, who felt his side`s attitude against Osasuna was a plus even though they again failed to score.
"I`m not concerned about the lack of goals. What concerned me was the feeling the team were transmitting, but we showed a totally different side of us against Osasuna."
He added in AS: "We shouldn`t be relaxed (about his team`s situation), but neither should we feel overwhelmed."
The good news for Depor is that tomorrow`s opponents Sociedad are not in the best of shape either.
Martin Lasarte`s men enjoyed a good start to life back in the top flight after picking up four points from their opening two games, but since then the Basque outfit have lost four of five outings.
Last weekend's 2-1 loss to fellow-promoted outfit Levante was disappointing, but striker Joseba Llorente believes his side needs to keep the faith, saying: "We are not in dire straits by any means - we're still in Primera and our dreams remain intact."

Napoli vs AC Milan Preview

Napoli vs AC Milan Preview

High-flying Napoli and AC Milan will square off hoping to bounce back from frustrating games in Europe.
Milan, who are joint-second in Serie A with Inter Milan, were beaten 2-0 at Real Madrid while Liverpool travelled to southern Italy and held Napoli to a goalless draw.
"We want to get back on track and you will see we will play a great game at Napoli," said AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato.
"Against Real Madrid, we suffered too much and perhaps we started off with tension and fear.
"In these types of games, you need to show character and we didn't do that."
The Rossoneri won 3-1 against Chievo in the previous round to clinch their third league triumph in a row.
Lazio are two points clear of Milan after seven games played.
Walter Mazzarri's Napoli were held to a 1-1 draw at Catania in their previous Serie A game, a result that dropped them to fourth in the table.
Then they played well at home against Liverpool but had to settle for a point.
"Liverpool came here not to lose and they succeeded," said Mazzarri.
"We created many goalscoring opportunities but it didn't go well for us.
"In any case my team showed an improved performance with respect to our game against Catania, where we didn't play to our potential."
One reason why Napoli are in the top four has been the play of Edison Cavani.
The striker is Serie A's joint leading scorer with six goals alongside Inter's Samuel Eto'o.
The hosts will be without captain Paolo Cannavaro, who serves a one-match ban.
AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri will be hoping to recover Gianluca Zambrotta and Ronaldinho.
Both players sustained muscular injuries in midweek and are doubtful for the encounter.

Los Angeles Galaxy vs FC Dallas Match Preview

Los Angeles enter this game knowing that victory will see them awarded the Supporters Shield, and clinch home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

Galaxy forward Edson Buddle enters the game tied with Chris Wondolowski in the race for the MLS Golden Boot. “I’ve never won it before. It’s something I’d like to accomplish,” Buddle told the LA Galaxy website.

Victory for Dallas will see them tie up third seed in the conference and possibly lead to an immediate rematch with the Galaxy. Forward Jeff Cunningham will be motivated, knowing he can take the outright lead as the al-time leading goal scorer in MLS.

PREDICTION: Los Angeles Galaxy 1 FC Dallas 0. The Galaxy clinch the Supporters Shield and Buddle wraps up the Golden Boot.

Newell's Old Boys vs Gimnasia La Plata Match Preview

Sunday's late game features Pablo Morant's Lobos visiting Roberto Sensini's Lepras in Rosario. Gimnasia's coach has confirmed he'll utilize a five man defensive line to stand against Newells' firepower, for his team shares the last position with Quilmes, turning this match into a must win for both sides.

Newell's Old Boys managed to obtain qualification for Sudamericana's next stage even though San Jose defeated the Lepras, and now they have to take on the reigning champion Liga de Quito. Sensini has not given up on the Apertura fight yet and will introduce only minor rotation in his squad to leapfrog Godoy Cruz and claim the 4th position in the table standings.

Leonel Vangioni and Mauricio Sperdutti are ready to return to Sensini's starting eleven and it wouldn't be unwise for Newell's coach to take advantage of this opportunity to give Mauro Formica or Lucas Bernardi some time off.

Gimnasia recovers its top striker, Jorge Cordoba for this clash. "The key to victory is to stay focused throughout the whole game. We need to be strong on the defense and be awake on the free kicks. Our rival will be tough, they play well on both ends of the field but we'll have our saying" said the Uruguayan striker.

Will this be enough to grant Gimnasia three decisive points for the relegation fight?

Stuttgart vs St Pauli Preview

Stuttgart vs St Pauli Preview

Stuttgart coach Jens Keller says his side must now win in the Bundesliga after claiming a third win in Europe on Thursday.
A 1-0 win over Getafe put the Swabians just one point away from qualifying for the knockout stages of the Europa League, yet they have picked up more points in three group games than they have in eight Bundesliga matches this term.
That, according to Keller, needs to be rectified fast, starting with Sunday's visit of St Pauli.
"This is an incredibly important game for us," he said.
"We must absolutely win this game at home. Of course we feel a lot of pressure given our league position, but we are professionals and have got to be able to deal with that."
The last time Stuttgart won a home game in Europe, they followed it up with their one and only Bundesliga triumph so far - a 7-0 home victory over Borussia Monchengladbach.
However, Keller would be happy with a simple 1-0, such is the strength he has seen in tomorrow's opponents.
"St Pauli thrive on a solid team performance," he said. "They don't have any stars, but they form a solid unit and have a very good team spirit.
"St Pauli are a good and strong opponent who have picked up some good results, above all away from home, where they have earned more points than they have at home."
Thursday's game took a lot out of Stuttgart's players and Keller may have to give some of his players a rest.
Christian Gentner, Khalid Boulahrouz, Stefano Celozzi and captain Cacau all have knocks, but Keller is hopeful that all four will be able to grit their teeth and play.
Serdar Tasci should return from an ankle injury to give Keller another option.
St Pauli coach Holger Stanislawski has no such injury problems to contend with and he can name his strongest team tomorrow.
"We are feeling good," he announced. "We will take a strong 18-man squad to Stuttgart."

Real Zaragoza vs Barcelona Preview

Real Zaragoza vs Barcelona Preview

Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets believes summer signing Javier Mascherano is still adapting to their style.
The Argentina captain started in a winning Barca side for the first time on Wednesday night, when Pep Guardiola's men beat FC Copenhagen 2-0 in the Champions League.
Barca were well below their brilliant best in that match, but Mascherano was quietly efficient alongside Busquets.
He earned the praise of coach Guardiola for his display and Busquets too has been impressed.
"He is a very good player," said the 22-year-old. "He will give us a lot and it's a pleasure to play alongside him.
"He needs to pick up the tactics of the position a little, which is difficult, but with his characteristics I am sure he will adapt quickly."
Mascherano had previously started in the league defeat at home to Hercules and the draws against Rubin Kazan and Mallorca, but finished on the winning side on Wednesday as he completed 90 minutes for the first time as a Barca player.
"He played a very good game - his best one yet, I believe," Busquets said.
Barcelona have struggled for goals recently, with summer acquisition David Villa looking low on confidence, but Busquets reckons the Catalans will soon start scoring more.
"We are relaxed," he said.
"The goals will come. It would be more worrying if we weren't creating chances."
Xavi has been left out of the squad to face bottom club Real Zaragoza at La Romareda tomorrow.
The Spain midfielder has struggled all season with an Achilles problem and appeared only briefly against Copenhagen.
Defender Gabi Milito is also out, but goalkeeper Victor Valdes returns after illness kept him out of the side on Wednesday and youngster Thiago Alcantara is also named in the 17-man squad.
While Barca lie in third place, a point behind leaders Real Madrid, Zaragoza are still without a win in the Primera Division this season and prop up the table ahead of tomorrow's game.
The Aragonese outfit have lost four matches already and drawn the other three in what has been a miserable start to the campaign for the northerners.
Assistant coach Nayim wants more from his team in the game against Barcelona, a side he played for early in his career.
"We have to demand the best from ourselves and give everything for this club," he said.
Defender Matteo Contini may be left out of the side tomorrow after he was expelled from training by coach Jose Aurelio Gay for showing a bad attitude on Wednesday.

Sunderland vs Aston Villa Preview

Aston Villa striker Emile Heskey and winger Marc Albrighton are fit for their Premier League clash with Sunderland.
The duo missed the home goalless draw with Chelsea last weekend through a back injury and sickness respectively.
Central defender Richard Dunne is also available after being substituted in the early stages against the Blues with a cut ankle which required several stitches.
But striker Gabriel Agbonlahor and full-back Luke Young are again ruled out.
Agbonlahor is still recovering from minor surgery to his groin while Young will be out of action for a further two weeks with a torn hamstring.
Sunderland striker Darren Bent will be fit after coming through Monday night's 0-0 draw at Blackburn despite missing 10 days' training with the groin injury he picked up on England duty.
Full-back Kieran Richardson is likely to miss out after suffering a setback in his battle against a hamstring problem, while Andy Reid is out with a similar problem.
Manager Steve Bruce has no other fitness concerns and only David Meyler, who is back in training after a knee injury, and Fraizer Campbell (also knee) remain on the sidelines.

But Frank Lampard (groin), Alex (thigh), Yossi Benayoun (Achilles) and Ramires (ankle) are all sidelined with striker Daniel Sturridge (ankle) also doubtful.
Wolves manager Mick McCarthy will be without Michael Mancienne as the conditions of his loan mean he cannot face his parent club.
McCarthy will also be without suspended captain Karl Henry and defender Jody Craddock (hip) while the game is also likely to come too soon for Stephen Hunt as he continues his return from a foot injury.
Midfielder David Davis, 19, has been recalled from his loan with Walsall and goes straight into the squad.

Hamburg vs Bayern Munich Preview

Hamburg vs Bayern Munich Preview

Bayern Munich coach Louis van Gaal believes victory in Hamburg would put his side back in the race for the Bundesliga title.

The reigning champions came out on top in the corresponding fixture last season, but Van Gaal warns a win this time around is not a foregone conclusion against a Hamburg side ranked three points and five places above them in the Bundesliga.
"That is not necessarily a logical result," he said.
"We can lose there, but I have faith in my team and we have won two games without our injured players so we can do so again.
"It is not about playing pretty football, but about winning.
"If we beat Hamburg, then we are back again."
Bayern are still without the injured Daniel van Buyten, Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery, Mark van Bommel and Miroslav Klose.
Ivica Olic is back in the squad, but Mario Gomez should keep his place in the attack after scoring four in Bayern's last two games.
"I am happy if he keeps scoring," added Van Gaal.
Hamburg coach Armin Veh also has good news on the injury front with Mladen Petric returning to training this week and making himself a candidate for a place in the team.
And Veh insists he is going to need every man on board for tomorrow's big test.
"Bayern are the biggest club in German football and they have earned this reputation over the years," he said.
"Even though they have plenty of players out, they can still put together a streak of eight wins in a row.
"But we want to win. We need to win to keep up there and cement our position."

Millen may keep it the same

Bristol City boss Keith Millen has hinted at an unchanged side for the visit of Championship leaders QPR.

The Robins recorded a first home win of the season against Reading on Tuesday night courtesy of a solitary goal from the fit-again Danny Haynes.

Millen said: "It is a lot easier to select a team after you have won because you don`t want to change it too much."

Midfielder Cole Skuse remains sidelined by the heel injury that ruled him out in midweek.

Meanwhile, Sam Vokes` return has been held up following a slight recurrence of a hamstring problem.

The striker, on loan from Wolves, suffered a grade two tear on his City debut against Millwall on the opening day of the season.

Tommy Smith could make his full QPR debut.

The versatile attacker has yet to start a game since joining from Portsmouth in August.

But with the fixtures coming thick and fast and Rangers heading west on the back of two goalless draws, boss Neil Warnock is considering throwing him in.

Former City defender Bradley Orr could also return to the starting line-up after recovering from a calf problem.

Midfielder Akos Buzsaky is still out with a knee injury so Alejandro Faurlin continues in the centre.

Striker Rob Hulse is training again following Achilles trouble but will not be rushed into action and midfielder Martin Rowlands has a calf problem.

Napoli vs Liverpool Preview

Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson will leave out some big names for the Europa League trip to Napoli ahead of Sunday's key league match against Blackburn.

The likes of Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard are expected to remain on Merseyside when the squad flies out to Naples later.
Hodgson will also be without Glen Johnson, who missed the derby defeat at Everton with a hamstring problem, and Daniel Agger, who is ill.
But, having slipped to second-bottom in the Barclays Premier League after just one victory in eight games, Hodgson is rightly prioritising domestic affairs.
"I'll leave some players out - that's for sure," he said.
"Some of the more important senior players won't travel because their participation on Sunday is going to be so important to us.
"It's not just a question of playing three matches in a week it's also a question of injury.
"I don't think our squad is so strong that I can afford to risk them.
"But it'll still be a strong team we put out there and I think it's a chance for some players who have been on the fringes, like David Ngog and others like Ryan Babel who has had very few chances.

Sofia vs Rapid Vienna Preview

Sofia vs Rapid Vienna Preview

Rapid Vienna coach Peter Pacult will not risk captain Steffen Hofmann for the trip to CSKA Sofia.

This is a must-win encounter if the Austrian side are to keep alive their Europa League hopes.
The 30-year-old midfielder has been troubled by a groin injury for several months and has played through the pain barrier, but Pacult believes the German needs to rest for the good of his career.
Hofmann will, therefore, not play tomorrow when Group L's bottom two teams - neither of whom have picked up a point so far - go head to head in Bulgaria.
"Steffen has needed a break for a long time," Pacult told weekly Austrian sports magazine SportWoche.
"For the time after his five-day hospital stay, we went down a different path. Now we must be careful.
"Steffen is also struggling with other problems. He has not trained much and has match fatigue. He lacks the body condition and could pick up a serious injury.
"We will not risk him.
"It is no longer just about the autumn or spring, but his future career."
Both sides head into the encounter at Stadion Vasil Levski in the bottom halves of their respective domestic leagues and looking to register their first points of the Europa League campaign.
Rapid went down 3-0 at Porto in their opener before losing 2-1 at home to Besiktas, while CSKA have yet to score a goal in the pool having suffered two 1-0 defeats - first at Besiktas and then at home to Porto.
CSKA coach Gjore Jovanovski has found himself under increased pressure lately, with reports suggesting the club could be looking to re-appoint former boss Stoycho Mladenov, who won two league titles over two spells with the club.
But Mladenov, who currently coaches ENPPI Club in Egypt, insists he has not been approached for a third stint.
He told Sofia newspaper Tema Sport: "It is improper to comment on the coaching post at the moment. The team has a coach and I will not discuss his properties.

Palermo vs CSKA Moscow Preview

Palermo coach Delio Rossi has warned his players of the big threat CSKA Moscow pose.

Leonid Slutski's men have won both of their Group F matches to emerge as the early leaders, however Palermo can join them on six points by making the best of home advantage.
Rossi knows CSKA are proving prolific scorers in Europe, with a 3-0 win at Lausanne followed by a 3-0 triumph over Sparta Prague.
"I believe this is not only the most challenging game of the group, but also of other groups," said Rossi. "CSKA are one of the strongest teams in this competition.
"They go into this game on the back of six straight wins and I don't feel shame in saying that CSKA are stronger than us.
"We have less European experience than them but I hope this will change in the future."
Palermo head into Thursday's encounter riding a four-match winning streak.
Sunday's 4-1 triumph over Bologna, their first league win at home this season, lifted the Sicilians to sixth in Serie A.
Rossi's men have won both of their home games in Europe this season without conceding a goal and know the importance of tomorrow's clash.
"This game is crucial to qualify to the next stage of the competition," said Rossi. "We will play in front of our fans and we hope to take three points."
The Italians will have to keep a close eye on CSKA's strike-force of Seydou Doumbia and Vagner Love.
"They are very good players and very dangerous," said Rossi. "They can strike at any time and we will have to limit our mistakes."
Palermo will have to be focused from start to finish, with five of CSKA's six group goals coming after the hour mark.
The hosts will be without injured trio Fabrizio Miccoli, Fabio Liverani and Nicola Rigoni.
Moreover, Slovenian midfield pair Armin Bacinovic and Josip Ilicic are not eligible to play in UEFA competition this season.

Young Boys v Odense Preview

Young Boys v Odense Preview

Odense BK are hoping to claim their first Europa League points when they travel to Young Boys on Thursday.

However, midfielder Andreas Johansson fears the odds are stacked against his side on the artificial pitch of the Stade de Suisse.
The Danish club have lost both of their Group H fixtures to date - against Getafe and Stuttgart - and another defeat tomorrow would all but end their hopes of a top-two finish.
A 5-0 rout at the hands of FC Copenhagen last weekend was hardly the best preparation, and Johansson admits his team-mates will be up against it in Bern.
"It will certainly be a difficult game," the Swedish midfielder told www.ob.dk.
"Young Boys have a huge advantage of playing on artificial turf in all their home games and have taken some good results there.
"It's a little harder playing on plastic and the ball moves faster. It is not quite what we're used to and above all it's the pace which differs. We'll have to focus on our opponents a little more than we usually do and what our tactics will be.
"It is going to be a battle and, looking at the table, we need points. But we will certainly try to take something from the match."
OB coach Uffe Pedersen will take 19 players to Switzerland, although goalkeeper Roy Carroll and striker Jonas Troest are both sidelined.
Young Boys sit second in the group standings after beating Getafe in their last clash, and assistant coach Erminio Piserchia is confident the team will also take maximum points against OB if they can replicate that performance.
"I've studied Odense's match against Copenhagen," he told Berner Zeitung. "The game was already over after half an hour because they had conceded three goals by then.
"Odense are vulnerable in defence, especially when playing on the break and making passes from deep on the pitch. That's when we need to attack.
"We'll have to be careful on set pieces as Odense are strong in the air. But we're playing well now and want to continue that on Thursday.
"If we play like we did in the 2-0 victory over Getafe, we have a great chance of winning."

Sporting Lisbon vs Gent Preview

Sporting Lisbon vs Gent Preview

Former Germany goalkeeper Timo Hildebrand will start for Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League clash against Gent.

Sporting boss Paulo Sergio made the announcement at his press conference today as he continues to try to solve his goalkeeping dilemma after an indifferent start to the season.
Hildebrand, who signed a one-year deal with the Lisbon club in the summer, played in Sporting's 2-1 win over Estoril in the Taca de Portugal at the weekend, but is yet to figure in the league or in Europe.
However, Sergio today confirmed he will start ahead of Rui Patricio, who has been Sporting's regular between the posts this season, and Tiago, who played in the 2-1 win over Lille last month.
"Tomorrow, Timo will be playing because this is my decision," Sergio said.
"Hildebrand joined us and then did not have any time to play in training games. Tiago did well in Lille. Rui has had one or two miserable moments but is doing a very good job.
"But now Timo has the opportunity to show his value."
Sergio refused to give away any more details of his starting XI, but veteran midfielder Maniche is expected to feature after recovering from a back injury.
Marat Izmailov and Pedro Mendes remain long-term absentees, while Yannick and Leandro Grimi are also sidelined.
For Gent, the question is whether Yassine El Ghanassy plays.
The 20-year-old has been fitted with a mask after suffering a facial fracture against Kortrijk, but will not be risked if an accompanying concussion has not receded.
"I would like to play against a team as renowned as Sporting Lisbon," he said. "I am certainly not afraid. But the medical staff and the coach will decide."
Yaya Soumahoro is fit and is likely to be return.
Coach Francky Dury recognises his side are second favourites for the match, despite Sporting's rough start, but does not want his players to be too cautious.
"The Portuguese league is very close and they will find a way," he said. "But we will not defend with five extra men. That would not be good for our own development."

Borussia Dortmund vs PSG Preview

Roman Weidenfeller is not taking any notice of what he calls "mind games" ahead of THE clash with Paris St Germain.

Reports in France today claim PSG have already made contact with Dortmund keeper Weidenfeller's agent in a bid to sign him for next season, but the player insists it is purely an attempt to unsettle him tomorrow night.
"It happens often that, just before an important game, there are some mind games," he said on his club's website.
"But I am only concentrating on the game and nothing else."
While Weidenfeller is relaxed about the speculation, his team mate Dede has admitted he will be nervous when he takes to the field at the Westfalenstadion tomorrow night.
The Brazilian full-back has not started a game in almost half a year due to injury so tomorrow night's game will be a particularly special occasion for him.
"Of course I am going to be nervous," he said. "When you have not played for five months, I think it is only normal.
"I will give it my best. The team is healthy and they will help me, and I hope that the fans in the stadium will help me too."
Dede will take the place of the suspended Marcel Schmelzer to make his first appearance since May 8.
Sebastian Kehl will not be able to play, though. He picked up a hip injury just before Dortmund's first Europa League group game against Karpaty Lviv and is halfway through a predicted three-month lay-off.
PSG's 2-0 win at Toulouse on Saturday started a run which will see them play seven games in the space of just 21 days.
Taking that and the fact they have already won their first two Group J fixtures into consideration, coach Paul Le Guen may be tempted to rest several key players tomorrow night for a game which probably does not rank as high in their priorities Sunday's clash with Auxerre in Ligue 1.
Mateja Kezman has been left out of the squad while Claude Makelele, who was suspended at the weekend, is in the 19-man group.

Besiktas vs Porto Preview

Besiktas vs Porto Preview

Besiktas winger Ricardo Quaresma will miss out on the chance to play against his former club Porto in Istanbul.

Portugal winger Quaresma spent five seasons at the Estadio do Dragao, but injury will prevent him from lining up against his former club for the first time since he left for Inter Milan in a big-money move two seasons ago.
The 27-year-old has been unable to find his best form since leaving Portugal and after failing to pin down a regular first-team place in Milan, moved to Besiktas at the start of the season to try to revive his career under former Real Madrid boss Bernd Schuster.
But after an injury-riddled start to life at Besiktas, Quaresma had hoped to be fit to meet his former club, in what is a meeting between the top two in the group.
Instead he has now targeted an emotional return to the Dragao in a fortnight's time.
"I hope I will be recovered and able to play in the match at the Dragao," he said.
"If I score against Porto then, I will not celebrate.
"It is a club I love and respect very much. The best times I had as a player were in the city."
Quaresma's absence is a blow for Schuster who will also be without influential playmaker Guti.
Besiktas are currently level with Porto at the top of the group after both sides won their opening two fixtures.
The Turkish side have, however, struggled without their key men in recent weeks, losing their past two league matches against Manisaspor and Trabzonspor.
By contrast Porto are flying in the Portuguese Liga.
Andre Villas Boas' side won their opening six league matches before dropping their first points in a 1-1 draw at Guimaraes before the international break.
That was Porto's last competitive fixture and they have been aided by the break with seven players set to return for the trip to Istanbul.
Goalkeeper Helton as well as Alvaro Pereira, Joao Moutinho, Cristian Rodriguez, Jorge Fucile, Rolando and Fernando are all fit to play and leave Boas with a full compliment to chose from.

Zagreb vs Club Brugge Preview

Zagreb vs Club Brugge Preview

Club Brugge chairman Pol Jonckheere believes a draw will be a good result from his team's trip to Dinamo Zagreb.

The Belgians sit bottom of Group D with just a single point from their opening two games and a defeat is likely to cut them adrift at the halfway stage.
Jonckheere is, however, unwilling to put pressure on his players, which have won just two of their past 11 away European ties, and who will be without star striker Ronald Vargas for the trip to the Croatian capital.
The Venezuelan has scored nine goals in his past 11 matches but is suspended after he was sent off in their 2-1 defeat at Villarreal three weeks ago.
"We will miss Vargas," Jonckheere told www.belgiumsoccer.be.
"But in the Jupiler League we are playing some good football and against Villarreal we really were not bad.
"We narrowly lost 2-1 with 10 men against one of the better teams in the world.
"We will have to compete against Dinamo - they are a good team. Croatian footballers can never be underestimated.
"It sounds pessimistic but a victory is not necessary. A draw seems to be considered as the minimum.
"It is regrettable that we will be without Vargas because he is very important to us."
The Belgians could also be without Jonathan Blondel for the match after he missed training today with a virus while Stijn Stijnen is still out injured.
Wilfried Dalmat and Jeroen Simaeys, who were suspended in the 3-2 win over Zulte-Waregem last Friday night, are due to return.
Dinamo began their Europa League campaign with a stunning 2-0 home success over group favourites Villarreal before falling to a 1-0 defeat at PAOK Salonika.
That has left them second in the group and knowing that victory against Brugge would leave them in a strong position to qualify from the group.
They will, however, be wary of the fact they were beaten by Belgian opposition in in the group stage of the competition last season, when Anderlecht snatched a 2-0 win at the Maksimir Stadium.

Alkmaar vs Dynamo Kiev Preview

AZ Alkmaar coach Gertjan Verbeek has promised to go on the offensive as his side look to heap more misery on Dynamo Kiev.

The Ukrainians have made a dismal start to their Group E campaign, drawing at home to Belarus' BATE Borisov before losing to Sheriff in Moldova.
AZ were then hammered 4-1 by surprise group leaders BATE but Verbeek has promised not to hold back.
"If you want to win, you must attack," he told his club's website. "We can ask Andriy Shevchenko shoot the ball into his own goal, but he is not going to.
"The new coach of Dynamo Kiev (Oleg Luzhny) is still searching. The club is much changed but the strikers I've seen are dangerous."
Verbeek has Maarten Martens and Hector Moreno back in contention for a starting place, while Gil Swerts and Adam Maher return to the squad.
Weekend goalscorer Graziano Pelle is ineligible for European competition while full-back Ragnar Klavan joins Simon Poulsen, Rasmus Elm, Erik Heijblok and Celso Ortiz on the injury list.
Luzhny, for his part, is missing Milos Ninkovic due to a head injury as he prepares for his first European match since taking temporary charge following Valeri Gazzaev's resignation on October 1.
The two sides meet for the first time with AZ, who have lost just one of their last 39 home games in Europe, looking to extend a 100% record in their previous three meetings with Ukrainian opposition.
Dynamo have won only once in Holland, a 3-1 victory over PSV Eindhoven in 1997, and have won only one of their last 11 away games in continental competition.

Lille vs Levski Sofia Preview

Lille vs Levski Sofia Preview

Lille coach Rudi Garcia has urged his side to go for broke as they search for their first win C against Levski Sofia.

Garcia knows anything less than three points may not be enough for his side after their poor start to the campaign with home defeat to Sporting Lisbon followed by a point against Gent in Belgium.
And with Levski coming into the game off the back of a 5-0 thumping at Sporting last time out and missing a host of big-name players, Garcia is urging all-out attack in a bid to leapfrog Levski in the group.
Garcia said: "If we win this game we pass this team and re-position ourselves in the group. That is our goal. We know we will need at least nine points and perhaps 10 to qualify.
"We've already used up at least one of our jokers and we would do well to win. I'm pretty confident about the fact that we can score some goals against the Bulgarian team."
Levski started their Europa League campaign with a home victory over Gent but their away form is poor and having failed to win three consecutive games on their travels the Bulgarians know they are up against it.
To make matters worse Levski have injury concerns with midfielders Hristo Yovov and Darko Tasevski both almost certainly out, and captain Georgi Petkov not even travelling to France.
Coach Yassen Petrov said: "Levski are going out there to play good football. All teams are beatable - there are no unbeatable sides. Lille have weaknesses and if we are fully motivated we stand a chance."
Levski will take some confidence into the trip after they consolidated their lead at the top of the Bulgarian league on Saturday with a 4-1 trouncing of strugglers Pirin Blagoevgrad.
Lille, by contrast, saw their hopes of staying with the Ligue 1 pacesetters dashed last Sunday when they lost their first league match of the season, 3-1 at Lyon.

Manchester United vs Bursaspor Match Preview

Manchester United were held to a disappointing 0-0 draw by Rangers to open Group C, but bounced back with a dramatic late win against Valencia in Spain. United will be confident and looking for victory here against a Bursaspor team who have suffered back to back defeats in group play. Despite being heavily criticized for their domestic form that sees them sitting in fourth place, United are yet to lose a competitive fixture this season.

Veteran winger Ryan Giggs will be missing for United and star striker Wayne Rooney is still struggling for form and fitness. Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez netted the winner against Valencia and should play again here.

Bursaspor are yet to score a goal in Group C play and coach Erturgrul Salam will have bad memories of his last visit to England in European play. As Besiktas manager in 2007, Salam was beaten 8-0 in a UEFA Cup fixture against Liverpool at Anfield.

Barcelona will be without Gabriel Milito who has been ruled out with injury. Otherwise Barcelona will field their usual star studded lineup and will be going all out to take a win and go into top spot in Group D. Andres Iniesta and Carles Puyol scored in Spain’s 2-1 La Liga victory at the weekend.

Most fans would assume Copenhagen will look to dend well and be pleased with a draw at the Nou Camp, though that may not be the case. Tottenham Hotspur travel to Italy to take on Internazionale in a battle for top spot in Group A. Tottenham fans will be familiar with Inter coach Rafa Benitez, who was a Premier League coach, and former Champions League winner with Liverpool. Tottenham striker Peter Crouch played under Benitez at Liverpool for three seasons.

Benitez will go into this fixture without Argentinian duo Esteban Cambiasso and Diego Milito. Cambiasso could be out for two to three weeks, wheres Milito, who scored two goals in last season’s Champions League final, is expected to miss a month.

The injury to Milito means Cameroon star Samuel Eto’o will carry the attack. Eto’o is the tournament’s leading scorer so far with four goals in two games.

Tottenham have made a fine start to their campaign and are coming off a 4-1 home win against FC Twente. However, Spurs will face the tough trip to the San Siro without two stars from that performance. Rafael van der Vaart will be suspended, while Captain Ledley King limped off at the weekend with an injury and is expected to be out for an extended period of time.

Rangers and Valencia go head to head in Glasgow in a game where the winner will gain the upper hand in the qualification race from Group C. Both teams are involved in a tight race along with Manchester United.

Rangers opened group play with a 0-0 tie at Manchester United, before a Steven Naismith goal led them to a 1-0 home win over Bursaspor.

Red hot forward Kenny Miller has 11 domestic goals already this season and will lead the line against Valencia. Rangers will be hoping James Beattie can recover from a hip problem in time to partner Miller in attack here. Midfielder Lee McCulloch will miss the game with a groin injury.

Spanish power Valencia opened group play with a comfortable 4-0 victory over Bursaspor in Turkey. They followed that up with a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester United, but will be looking to bounce back here. Valencia will enter the game without midfielder Joaquin, who has picked up an ankle injury.

Midfielder Pablo Hernandez was among the scorers in Turkey and will know just how difficult it could be to score past Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor in this game. Joaquin Caparros' Lions started the season in the best possible manner, but two consecutive defeats have undermined their promising path, standing at the 11th position with seven points. Zaragoza's last three visits to San Mames have granted the Maños one important point.

"This is an excellent opportunity to make up for the lost time" stated Athletic's midfielder Javi Martinez. But it might not be such an easy task considering Zaragoza won't hesitate on defying the Lions "You cannot go to San Mames and wish for a goalless draw. Fernando Llorente can score at any moment and obtaining an early advantage will be our priority" said Zaragoza's Ander Herrera.

Jiri Jarosik's absence will compromise Zaragoza's defense against one of the most experienced strikers of the league. Ivan Obradovic is likely to make some room for Leo Ponzio, as the performance of the Serbian international has been far from satisfying so far.

Javi Martinez's return will boost Athletic's offense, joining Gaizka Toquero and Llorente on the attack. Athletic's form will be tested against one of the weakest rivals of the category, will they be upto the circumstances and claim the three points?

He also doesn’t have to worry about Klaas Jan Huntelaar who can’t stop scoring for his club or country. Stuttgart and Schalke both lost their previous matches in the league. Felix Magath is clearly unhappy about the number of red cards that has been shown to his players but may be the likes of Benedikt Howedes do need to be a bit more careful in their tackles.

Manchester United vs West Bromwich Albion Match Preview

Manchester United will likely be confident yet wary as they prepare to meet West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford on Saturday. Two weeks ago the Baggies shocked Arsenal and the English football world when they beat the Gunners handily at Emirates Stadium. They were unable to sustain their momentum against Bolton last time out, however, and could only manage a share of the points with a 1-1 draw.

United haven’t gotten into their stride yet. A 0-0 draw with Sunderland last week resulted in a drop to third in the league table, a point behind 2nd place Manchester City.

Saturday’s match may witness the long-awaited return of midfielder Owen Hargreaves to the United set-up. Hargreaves has been out for two years due to acute tendinitis in the knees.

United haven’t lost yet this season, but with four draws and only three wins from their seven matches they haven’t yet concocted a winning formula either.

West Brom meanwhile sit in sixth place with 11 points thus far, just two behind United.

Emile Heskey, given a chance to prove his worth under new Villa boss Gerrard Houllier, created the first goal of the match for Aston Villa against Tottenham two weeks ago as he powered down the right wing and in toward goal then fed the ball to Mark Albrighton at the far post. Albrighton slid the ball home for his first EPL goal.

The goal was all Heskey’s work though, and it was a moment that justified his selection. But Heskey was injured later and had to go off.

Meanwhile Tottenham’s newest favorite Rafael van der Vaart equalized in stoppage time then scored the winner for Spurs after the break.

The loss left the Villains in eighth place. Heskey, who had to be subbed, may be unavailable this weekend due to the knock he took. Mark Albrighton and Gabriel Agbonlahor are also questionable for this weekend.

Chelsea proved their dominance against Arsenal last time out with a 2-0 victory over the Gunners at Stamford Bridge. Didier Drogba and Alex got the goals, and two fine ones they were.

Bad news struck the club last week, though, when it was revealed that Israeli international midfielder Yossi Benayoun had suffered a recurrence of an Achilles injury. Initial estimates vaguely referenced some “months” on the sidelines. The news got worse this week, however, when the estimate was refined to be as many as six months on the sidelines.

Salomon Kalou is also out due to injury, and so too is Alex after sustaining a knock in the Arsenal match. Bosingwa and Lampard may be available, however, and the condition of John Terry, who missed England’s qualifier against Montenegro last week due to a back problem, is being monitored.

Arsenal failed to gain ground against Chelsea last time out when they lost 2-0 to the Blues at Stamford Bridge. Two special goals, one by Didier Drogba and another by Alex, gave the home side all three points and left the Gunners in 4th place.

Injuries have plagued Arsenal since the season started, with defender Bacary Sagna the latest Gunner to be sidelined. The French international suffered a thigh injury in the Chelsea match. Some relief is on the way, however. Goalkeeper Manuel Almunia will be available for the clash with Birmingham at the weekend, and midfielder Cesc Fabregas may be available. Striker Nicklas Bendtner should be available for the first time this season within the next two weeks.

Birmingham City’s unbeaten streak at home ended last week when they lost 0-2 to a superior Everton squad. An own goal by Roger Johnson put the Toffees ahead and Tim Cahill sealed the victory with a header in stoppage time. The Blues had gone 18 matches undefeated until Everton came to town. Now Birmingham hold the 16th spot in the table, immediately ahead of their conquerors.

Cologne vs Borussia Dortmund Preview

Cologne vs Borussia Dortmund Preview

Cologne forward Lukas Podolski has ruffled the feathers of his own club's management ahead of the clash with Borussia Dortmund.

The Germany international has criticised the way his club is structured and feels the board would be well advised to take a close look at tomorrow's opponents and learn from them.
"It has nothing to do with financial means," he said in an interview with Sport Bild magazine.
"Marco Reus or Kevin Grosskreutz were both playing on our doorstep and are now at other clubs. Or why don't we manage to pull off a transfer like the Shinji Kagawa one?
"We simply don't have a clear strategy. In Dortmund you can recognise a clear concept.
"All we get to hear is how good our fans are, how great our stadium is. There are clubs with far worse financial means than us, yet they are doing better."
Podolski can expect a fine for his remarks, but he should nevertheless lead Cologne's attack at the Mungersdorfer Stadion, where Cologne are in desperate need of points after winning only one of their first seven matches.
Dortmund, on the other hand, have won their last six in a row.
However, that does not mean they can expect tomorrow's game to be any easier, according to coach Jurgen Klopp.
"Cologne have been playing better than their results would lead one to believe," he warned.
A win would take Dortmund to the top of the table on goal difference ahead of Klopp's former club Mainz, who are in action against Hamburg on Saturday.
Given the Westphalians' excellent form, Klopp is likely to name an unchanged side for tomorrow's short trip.

The morale of the team suffered a mejor setback upon the last three consecutive defeats and the three points will be the perfect medicine to recover their breath and join the top fight.

Tigre's coach Caruso Lombardi looked rather disappointed by the performance of his players in the last minutes of last week's match. "If we lose the attention in the last minutes of each game we'll be fighting for the relegation the whole year" he declared.

The visitors will once again be missing Roman Martinez in the field "His absence has a great impact in our scheme, for his finesse can leave you one on one against your rival's goalkeeper. He is what we're missing, it's evident" declared Fernando Telechea. Martinez is expected to be back against Olimpo, but it might be too late for the Matadores.

But this is only an excuse. Tigre depends on itself to secure its permanence in Argentina's first category and San Lorenzo is desperate for the full scoring to remain competitive in the title's fight. Who will claim the three points?
