Olympique Lyon vs Benfica Match Preview

Olympique Lyonnais have started Group B play with consecutive wins and will look to continue that trend here with a home game against Benfica. Brazilian midfielder Michel Bastos has been key in Lyon’s good start to Champions League play. Bastos has scored three goals in two games so far, and been a driving force behind most of Lyon’s attacks.

Benfica began group play with a comfortable win over Hapoel Tel-Aviv, but were comfortably beaten 2-0 last time out against Schalke. Paraguay international forward Oscar Cardozo scored in the win over Tel-Aviv, but will miss this fixture with a knee injury.

Benfica will be going all out to get points in France as coach Jorge Jesus has made no secret of his ambition to qalify from Group B. “Our objective is to get through the group stage and gain an identity in Europe,” Jesus told the UEFA website.
