Five star Malaga romp home in thriller

Real Zaragoza 3 - 5 Málaga

Malaga stunned shellshocked Real Zaragoza with a five-goal blitz in the opening 34 minutes of Sunday's game at La Romareda before withstanding a spirited fightback to claim their first win of the season.
Malaga looked to be underdogs heading into the match having lost 3-1 at home to Valencia in their opening fixture and missing eight players through injury, but they could hardly have had a better start.
Fernando Fernandez and Juanmi put the Andalusian side 2-0 up in the opening seven minutes, both goals coming from low finishes from beyond the far post following crosses from the left.
The same two players then notched their second goals inside 60 seconds of each other to make it 4-0 with just 28 minutes on the clock.
Fernando made it 3-0 from an almost identical position as his first, heading into an empty net after Zaragoza goalkeeper Leo Franco had misjudged another left-wing cross.
Juanmi's second goal was a straight-forward finish after Quincy Owusu-Abeyie had burst into the area and laid the opening on a plate for his team-mate.
Former Arsenal player Owusu-Abeyie then made it 5-0 himself six minutes later, capitalising on an error from Jiri Jarosik on the halfway line to race away and slot home.
At that point the game looked over, but to their credit hosts Zaragoza did not give up and they pulled a goal back before the break through Brazilian World Cup winner Edmilson, who curled a low 25-yard shot just inside the corner
Zaragoza then caused some consternation in the visiting side's ranks by netting twice more in the second half through Marco Perez and Ander Herrera, but they could make no further in-roads in the closing stages as Malaga held on to give new coach Jesualdo Ferreira his first victory.
